Born in the Northeast of Scotland 1964. Moved into Aberdeen at the grand old age of 9. Attended Premnay Primary, Craighill Primary, Robert Gordon's College and Aberdeen University. Graduated with First Class Honours in Natural Philosophy. Spent three years 'pretending' to do a PH.D but really got into computers. Finally left higher education in 1989 for a career with the SERC at Daresbury Laboratory where I wrote code to control large pieces of equipment. This was the start of my "embedded" systems career which is still ongoing.
Moved to New Zealand in September 2000. Started out in Wellington but now live in Christchurch. These days I am Team Leader for a small team of software developers.
