What happened to the issues? They used to be just like reading a magazine. Now they look like crap. They look like a web page printed to pdf. YUCK!!!

That’s exactly what they are as it happens. From Issue 16 the production quality PDFs disappeared. Tony (the editor) explained why this had to be at the time in his column.
Following that a number of people requested some kind of PDF download for offline reading so — for some time — automatically generated PDF versions, using HTMLDoc have available. You might find this forum post of interest.
